Shutter Island (2010)

Plot:

It's 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston's Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He's been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn't been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy's shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals "escape" in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything - his memory, his partner, even his own sanity.

Η κλινική τοποθετημένη επάνω σε ένα δυσπρόσιτο νησί, αρχίζει να ξεδιπλώνει φρικιαστικά στοιχεία και ο ίδιος ο ντετέκτιβ θα βρεθεί αντιμέτωπος με μια κατάσταση παραλόγου και ανατριχιαστικών αποκαλύψεων.

Nine (2009)

Plot:

Famed Italian director Guido Contini is ten days away from the start of principal filming of his latest movie, ambitiously titled "Italia". The general speculation by anyone who has followed production, including the press, is that Guido has lost his creative vision and that this production will go the way of his last two films: be a flop. The first part of that statement is indeed true as Guido not only does not yet have a script, but he has no idea for the movie at all. Guido escapes to a seaside resort to convalesce and get away from all the pressures of this production, this convalescence only to moderate success as he thinks about the women who have shaped his life.

BLUE DROP ~Tenshi Tachi no Gikyoku~ (2007)

Plot:

In 1995, all 800 habitants of the isolated Kamikakushi Island vanished in one night, all but a single girl who lost her memory. The cause of the disappearances was never identified.

Four years later, that girl, Mari, transfers to a girl's dormitory school, Kaihou Gakuen, leaving behind her grandmother who had been her guardian ever since the incident. There, she meets Hagino.

Hagino is the school idol and completes her student council responsibilities flawlessly. The moment she touches Mari's hand, however, Hagino freaks out, straddling atop Mari, hands aroundher throat. Mari is afraid of and angry at Hagino, who pretends as if nothing had happened while in front of other students, but at the same time, somehow, she is attracted to Hagino too.

In reality, Hagino is actually an alien who was sent to Earth in order to reconnoiter prior to an invasion. The event on Kamikakushi Island occurred when the 200-member crew of a battleship, the Blue, whose captain was Hagino and the island's inhabitants had killed each other. The Blue was seriously damaged and hidden. Hagino had since blended into human society and continued her reconnaissance.

Within her school life, while fighting with fellow students, Mari begins to come out of her shell. Hagino has been living a double life, but her encounter with Mari makes her face human beings, and gradually she begins to have doubts about her mission. While the invasion and war draws closer unnoticed, the girls begin to understand each other.

Simoun (2006)

Plot:

On a distant planet, there is a continent whose inhabitants have named the "Great Air Continent," and everyone there is born female. At 15 years old, they travel to a magical spring where they choose to remain a female or to become a male.

Unfortunately, they are at war; the country where the main characters live is invaded by the neighboring country, aiming to obtain their superior engine. Day by day, the situation gets worse. To intercept their attacks, they convert their two-seater planes originally used for ceremonial purposes, Simoun, into fighter planes. Also, they organize an air squad, "Call", which consists of "Mediums," young girls who have yet to choose their sex.

The girls who can operate "Simoun" are called "Simoun Sibyllae". They have special abilities and so they can choose when they shall become adults by themselves. However, since the war broke out, they've been forced to continue being pilots.
